Access of Girl-Child to Quality Education in Wukari

Wukari & Takum LGAs, Taraba State

WREP is implementing a project titled "Increasing the access of girl-child to quality education in Wukari and Takum LGAs in Taraba State, North-East Nigeria", with support from the TY Danjuma Foundation.

A large part of Nigeria's population — made up mostly of women and girls — lacks basic education. Deep-rooted problems including failure to provide conducive learning environments, quality teaching and meaningful community support have perpetuated cycles of illiteracy and poverty.

Project Goal

To cater for the large number of pupils, especially the girl child, in a bid to reduce illiteracy among the rural poor, boost the education sector, increase community participation in school governance and provide an environment that enhances productive teaching and learning.

Key Activities

Target

Reaching approximately 2,000 primary school pupils, giving them access to education through improved infrastructure and community-driven school governance.
